Moon Flower

Melodi: Månens blomst (af Christian Colberg)
Tekst: Rikke Munchkin Sørensen

A butterfly born on the first day of spring
Looked out on the world that would fade all too soon
And he fluttered away as he started to sing
The songs he had heard in his tender coccoon

He’d heard of a place where the moon flowers grow
Where berries are sweet and amazingly red
Where the water is clear and the butterflies go
To quietly sleep in a moon flower bed

All day he would search, flying this way and that
Ne’er resting his wings ere the sun turned to red
At the end of the day he was tired and sad
For he had not yet found his moon flower bed

He sat on a rose, but the rose was too old
It withered away as he landed to rest
Then he sat on a stone, but the stone was too cold
He fluttered away with the wind of the west.

Exhausted, at last he discovered a mere
And sparkling therein was the moon’s smiling head
And he landed so lightly on water so clear
A-sleeping at last in a moon flower bed.
